Lufthansa Group Booking
For groups heading into Europe, Frankfurt and Munich are the two most efficient gateways in the region. Lufthansa feeds both with a dense short-haul network, so a party of 40 can land once and disperse to a dozen European cities on the same ticket.

How a Lufthansa group booking works
Lufthansa treats 10 or more passengers travelling on the same flight as a group. That moves your booking out of the public fare buckets and onto a contracted group fare, which behaves differently in three ways that matter to an organiser.
The price is fixed when you book, not when you pay. Public fares climb as seats sell, so a party of 30 booked individually over several weeks can end up paying three different prices. A group contract locks one fare for the whole block from the day the deposit clears.
You do not need the names yet. Seats are held against the group, not against individuals. You supply the passenger list before the ticketing deadline, which is usually several weeks out. Anyone who drops off the list before that point can normally be released without penalty, within the percentage written into your contract.
Everyone sits together. Seats come out of one block on one flight, rather than whatever singles happen to be left in the cabin.
Lufthansa hubs and connections
Lufthansa operates through 2 main hubs, which determines how your group routes:
As a Star Alliance carrier, Lufthansa group fares can often be written through to partner-operated flights on the same ticket, which keeps a single booking reference for the whole journey.
When to book
Three to eleven months before departure is the practical window. Each flight carries a finite amount of group inventory, and on Lufthansa the peak-season departures, holiday dates and convention weeks are committed first. Last-minute group space does exist, but it prices poorly and rarely seats everyone together.
Lufthansa group booking FAQs
What counts as a group on Lufthansa?
Ten or more passengers on the same flights. Lufthansa Group Travel then quotes a contracted fare that also applies across SWISS, Austrian and Brussels Airlines where those carriers operate the flight.
Can we carry sports equipment on a Lufthansa group booking?
Yes, and it is worth declaring it at quote time. Bulky items such as ski bags, bicycles and instruments are far cheaper when they are written into the group contract than when they are paid for at the airport.
How long can a Lufthansa group hold seats before paying?
The ticketing deadline is set in the group contract, commonly four to six weeks before departure, with a deposit due shortly after the seats are confirmed.
